Dubai Ride 2026 is on Sunday 1 November. Sheikh Zayed Road shuts to cars, and roughly 40,000 people ride down the middle of it. Free to enter, open to any age, and you register at dubairide.com.
Two routes. A 12km run along Sheikh Zayed Road for confident riders, and a flat 4km loop through Downtown for families. Gates open at 6.15am. Everyone has to be rolling by 7.30am, because the road reopens at 8.15am.
This is the seventh edition, and it opens the tenth Dubai Fitness Challenge. Below you get both routes in detail, all five start gates, the full timing sheet, bib collection dates, the kit rules marshals actually enforce, and what to do with the rest of your Sunday. If you are planning the trip around it, start with Dubai attraction tickets on our things to do in Dubai page.

The two Dubai Ride 2026 routes, and which one to pick

| Route | Distance | Terrain | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sheikh Zayed Road | 12 km | One climb over Dubai Canal Bridge | Confident riders, teens and up |
| Downtown family loop | 4 km | Flat the whole way | Families, children, first-timers |
The 12km runs from Dubai World Trade Centre, past the Museum of the Future and Coca-Cola Arena, down to Safa Park and back. One proper climb, over the Dubai Canal Bridge. Nothing brutal, though it will find you out if you have not ridden since last November.
The 4km follows Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard. Dubai Mall, Dubai Opera, straight under the Burj Khalifa, flat all the way round. Kids manage it fine.
- Not ridden in months? Take the 4km. You can always do the 12km next year.
- Riding with a child in a seat or trailer? The 4km, and nothing else.
- Want the photo under the tower? Also the 4km.
- Want the empty-motorway feeling? That is the 12km, and it is worth the climb.
All five start gates on the Sheikh Zayed Road route

Pick your gate when you register. You finish at the same one you started from, so choose by where you can park or be dropped off, not by which sounds nicest.
| Start gate | Nearest landmark | Good if |
|---|---|---|
| Museum of the Future | Emirates Towers | You want the photo at the top of the route |
| Al Satwa | Satwa / Trade Centre side | You are coming from Jumeirah or Al Wasl |
| Coca-Cola Arena | City Walk | You are staying in City Walk or Al Safa |
| Business Bay | Business Bay | You live or stay south of the canal |
| Lower Financial Street | DIFC | You can park in DIFC and walk the bike over |
The Downtown 4km has a single start area. There is also a separate supported entry point for People of Determination using handcycles, tandems and adapted bikes.
Dubai Ride 2026 timings, hour by hour

| Time | What happens |
|---|---|
| 4.00am | Gates open. Early arrivals get the easiest parking |
| 4.00 to 6.00am | Arrival window. Bring lights if you turn up in the dark |
| 6.15am | Ride starts |
| 7.30am | Gates close. No entry after this |
| 8.15am | Roads reopen to traffic |
Four in the morning sounds absurd. It is not, in practice. Dubai in early November is about 24°C at that hour, the light comes up around 6.30am, and you ride the first stretch in the dark with the skyline lit. That part alone is worth the alarm.
Turn up at 7am and you will spend the window queueing rather than riding. Aim for 5.30am.
How to register for Dubai Ride 2026

- Go to dubairide.com, or reach it through the Dubai Fitness Challenge site.
- Create an account, then pick your route: 12km or 4km.
- Pick your start gate. This is locked in once you submit.
- Register every rider in your group individually, children included.
- Save the QR code that lands in your inbox. You need it for bib collection.
Bookings cannot be edited. Changed your mind about the route or the gate? Cancel the whole thing and register again. Annoying, but that is the system.
Registration is free and it has no cap published, though gates do fill. Last year 40,327 riders turned out, which was a record.
Bib and T-shirt collection at Zabeel Park

| Detail | Where and when |
|---|---|
| Location | Dubai Municipality 30×30 Fitness Village, Zabeel Park, Gate 2 |
| Dates | 28 to 31 October 2026 |
| Bring | Your registration QR code |
| Collecting for others | Allowed, with their QR code |
| On the day | No collection. Sort it beforehand |
This is the single most common way people miss the ride. No bib means no entry, and there is nothing at the start gate on Sunday morning that can fix it. One person can collect for the whole family, so send whoever is free.
What bikes are allowed at Dubai Ride 2026

| Allowed | Not allowed |
|---|---|
| Road, hybrid and mountain bikes | Electric scooters |
| Children’s bikes | Any motorised vehicle |
| Pedal-assist e-bikes | Skateboards and rollerblades |
| Tandems | Bikes in poor repair |
| Child seats and trailers | Pets |
| Handcycles and adapted bikes | Large bags |
No rental bikes at the event. You bring your own. In 2025 the RTA and Careem ran a free rental code for participants, though nothing equivalent has been confirmed for 2026, so do not count on it.
Staying in a hotel? Ask the concierge. Plenty of Dubai hotels keep a few bikes, and the ones on the Beach Road corridor almost all do.
The kit list and the rules marshals enforce

- Helmet. Mandatory for everyone, including children in seats and trailers. No helmet, no ride.
- Your bib, attached and visible. Marshals check at the gate.
- Closed sports shoes. Sandals get turned away.
- A full, refillable water bottle. Mai Dubai hydration stations sit along the route.
- Lights if you arrive before sunrise, which most people do.
- 25 km/h speed limit. Marshals will pull you up, since this is a mass ride and not a time trial.
No bag drop. No changing rooms. Toilets are at the start and finish gates only. Travel light and leave the backpack in the car.
Mechanics are stationed on the route, and medical support is on hand. The emergency number in the UAE is 901 for ambulance.
Getting there: parking, metro and Salik

| How | Reality on the day |
|---|---|
| Driving | Parking near the gates is limited. Try Trade Centre, DIFC or Dubai Mall |
| Salik | Tolls still apply. In 2025 the peak rate was AED 6 per gate from 6am |
| Metro | Bikes are not allowed on the Metro, so this only works if you are not riding |
| Taxi with a bike | Hard. Most taxis will not take a full-size bike |
| Drop-off | The cleanest option. Get dropped near your gate before 5.30am |
Two more things worth knowing:
- Closures cover Sheikh Zayed Road and everything feeding into it. The RTA posts exact times and diversions a few days out, so check before driving near Downtown that morning.
- Regulars park further out and ride in, since fifteen extra minutes on the bike beats forty hunting a space.
What you actually ride past

Twelve kilometres of the city greatest hits, except you are down the middle of the road instead of stuck beside it.
| Landmark | Route | Worth a photo stop? |
|---|---|---|
| Dubai World Trade Centre | 12km start | Not really |
| Museum of the Future | 12km | Yes, and it is a start gate |
| Coca-Cola Arena | 12km | No |
| Dubai Canal Bridge | 12km | Yes, best view on the route |
| Safa Park | 12km turnaround | Quick breather |
| Burj Khalifa | 4km | Obviously |
| Dubai Opera | 4km | Yes |
| Dubai Mall | 4km | Photo, then keep moving |
On your list anyway? Then book them properly.
- Museum of the Future tickets sell out days ahead, so book early.
- Burj Khalifa tickets work better at sunset than midday, and the Burj Khalifa tickets guide says which level is worth it.
Riding with children and People of Determination

The 4km exists for exactly this. Flat, short, closed to traffic, and marshalled the whole way.
- Child seats and trailers are allowed, as long as the child wears a helmet too.
- Children on their own bikes need their own registration and their own bib.
- There is no minimum age, though a four-year-old on a balance bike will need pushing at some point.
- A supported entry point runs for People of Determination, covering handcycles, tandems and adapted bikes. Queries go to the event accessibility team at registration.
Families who have done it before all say the same thing: do the 4km, be back at the hotel by 8am, and spend the rest of the day somewhere with shade. Our family activities in Dubai round-up is built for exactly that afternoon.
What to do in Dubai after the ride

You will be finished by 8.15am with a whole Sunday in front of you, which is an odd and rather good problem.
- Aquaventure Waterpark tickets — the obvious reset after a ride, and November water temperatures are perfect. Book Aquaventure.
- Dubai Frame tickets — quick, cheap, and ten minutes from Zabeel Park where you collected the bib. Dubai Frame tickets.
- Burj Khalifa tickets — you rode under it at dawn, so go up it at dusk. At the Top, levels 124 and 125.
- Desert safari — an afternoon pick-up, dune bashing and dinner, and November evenings are finally cool. Premium desert safari.
- Dubai Marina yacht cruise — shared sailings run through the afternoon, so no planning needed. Marina yacht tour.
- Hot air balloon flight — not for ride morning, obviously. Save it for the day after. Hot air balloon Dubai.
- Jet ski in Dubai — thirty minutes past the Burj Al Arab, which conveniently also ticks your 30×30 for the day. Jet ski in Dubai.
Doing several of these? Then Dubai combo tickets work out cheaper than booking one by one, and the full range sits under Dubai tickets. If the budget went on flights, our free things to do in Dubai list pairs nicely with a free bike ride.
Mistakes first-time Dubai Ride riders make

- Skipping bib collection. Zabeel Park, 28 to 31 October, and nothing on the morning.
- Turning up at 7am, when the gate shuts at 7.30am and the queue is already the event.
- Picking the 12km because 4km sounds easy. The canal bridge climb is real.
- Forgetting the helmet. Marshals turn people away over this every single year.
- Bringing an e-scooter. Pedal-assist e-bikes are fine, but scooters are not.
- Choosing a start gate without checking parking near it first.
- No lights before sunrise, which makes the first twenty minutes unpleasant.
- Booking a 9am brunch. Roads reopen at 8.15am and everyone leaves at once.
Dubai Ride 2026 and the rest of the Fitness Challenge

Dubai Ride opens the Dubai Fitness Challenge, which runs 31 October to 29 November. Three more free flagship events follow.
| Event | Date | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Dubai Ride | 1 November | 12km and 4km, Sheikh Zayed Road and Downtown |
| Dubai Stand-Up Paddle | 7 to 8 November | Free paddling at Hatta Dam, all levels |
| Dubai Run | 22 November | 10km and 5km, same closed roads |
| Dubai Yoga | 29 November | Mass sunset session, closing day |
Each one needs its own registration. Dubai Ride does nothing for Dubai Run, and plenty find that out in late November.
Is Dubai Ride 2026 worth the 4am alarm?

Short answer: yes, and not because of the cycling.
| Go for it if | Give it a miss if |
|---|---|
| You will be in Dubai on 1 November anyway | You cannot get hold of a bike |
| You want the city with no traffic in it | 4am is genuinely impossible for you |
| You are travelling with children | You wanted a competitive ride with timing chips |
| Free matters to your budget | You are not in Dubai before 31 October for bib collection |
Twelve kilometres is nothing to a regular cyclist. That is not the draw. The draw is an eight-lane motorway with no cars on it, the Museum of the Future going past on your left, and forty thousand people all slightly giddy about being somewhere they are normally not allowed. You cannot buy that experience, which is probably why it is free.
Planning the whole trip? Dubai events and festivals 2026 covers what else lands that month, and adventure experiences in Dubai covers the days either side.

More on Dubai Ride 2026
No, not at the event. You bring your own. RTA and Careem ran a free rental code for riders in 2025, though nothing is confirmed for 2026, so sort a bike yourself or ask your hotel.
Pedal-assist e-bikes, yes. Electric scooters, no. Same goes for skateboards, rollerblades and anything else with a motor.
Sheikh Zayed Road and everything feeding into it, plus one direction of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard for the Downtown loop. Exact times and diversions come from the RTA a few days before.
No, bikes are not allowed on the Metro. So it only helps if you are arriving without one. Driving and parking at Trade Centre, DIFC or Dubai Mall tends to work better.
40,327 in 2025, which was a record and more than double the 2020 debut. Organisers expect a bigger field again this year.
