A day at Waterbom Bali is one of those rare travel decisions nobody in the group argues about. The toddlers get a splash zone built just for them, the teenagers get a near-vertical drop that makes their stomach disappear, and the parents get a lounger by the lazy river with a drink that somehow arrived in a coconut.
Additionally, it’s been running in Kuta since 1993 across 38,000 square metres of tropical garden, and has spent most of the last decade being named Asia’s top water park. Here’s what a family actually needs to know before booking.
What It Costs
Ticket
Official market price
Adult (12+)
IDR 519,000
Child (2–11)
IDR 421,000
Under 2
Free
Two things worth knowing. Anyone aged 12 and over pays the adult rate — the child band stops at 11, which surprises parents of tall twelve-year-olds. And Indonesian ID and KITAS holders get a separate discounted rate year-round.
Return within 7 days and the second visit is over 20% off. If you’re in Bali for a fortnight and the kids loved it, that’s a better deal than most people realise.
There’s also a two-day pass covering two consecutive days, and an annual pass that includes a free towel and 20% off for up to four additional people per visit.
What isn’t included
General admission covers the park, slides and pools. Extra charges apply for:
FlowRider — around IDR 150,000 for a 30-minute session
Towel hire, lockers and gazebos
Water Blaster and spa services
Food and drink — budget roughly IDR 300,000 per person if you’re eating and snacking through the day
Everything inside runs on a cashless wristband, the Splash Band, which you load with credit at the top-up counter near the entrance. Unspent credit is refunded when you leave.
Same-day re-entry is allowed with a pass-out. If the kids need a nap back at the hotel at 2pm, you don’t lose your ticket.
Why It Works for Families
Most water parks are designed for one age group and tolerate everyone else. Waterbom, however, feels planned around the chaos of a mixed-age family.
Funtastic is the shallow, no-pressure play zone with mini slides and water cannons — toddlers feel like they’re doing something big with no actual risk.
Zuluu Hill is a mini-mountain with six winding slides across two levels, and AquaPlay is a fifteen-metre playground with tipping bowls and a dump bucket that soaks everyone underneath at the worst possible moment. Both suit kids who’ve outgrown Funtastic but aren’t ready for the headline slides.
Climax is a near-vertical drop that earns its name, and Smashdown 2.0 is a trapdoor slide with a genuine half-second of freefall. These are the ones teenagers come for.
In between sit the lazy river, several restaurants and a spa, so nobody has to leave just because they’ve had enough of being flung around.
The Slides
Thrill end: Pipeline drops you through a clear tube so you watch your own descent. Boomerang launches you up a wall after a steep drop. Twin Racers lets siblings race side by side on mats. Moreover, Green Vipers sends two riders down different paths at different speeds into the same pool.
Gentler but still fun: Python is a raft ride built for groups, with a 100cm minimum. Constrictor is a 250-metre tube winding through the tree canopy with near-90-degree turns, minimum 122cm.
And when everyone’s done: the lazy river winds through shaded gardens long enough that people regularly lose track of time in it.
Height and Age Requirements
The detail every parent checks before booking, because nothing ruins a day faster than a child being turned away at the top of a slide they’ve talked about all week.

Children around 138–142 cm can usually ride nearly everything. If your child is borderline for a specific slide, check the sign at that slide rather than guessing — staff enforce these strictly and won’t make exceptions.
When to Go
The park runs 9:00am to 6:00pm daily. Aim to be through the gate before 10:00am.
Quietest: weekdays, with Tuesdays noticeably calmer than the rest. Low season runs roughly February to May and September to November.
Busiest: Saturday around midday, pulling tourists and local families at once. June through August and the December holidays are the heaviest stretch of the year.
If a weekday isn’t possible, arrive at opening or come in for the last couple of hours, since the midday crush thins by late afternoon.
On rain: Bali’s wet season runs November through March, but showers usually pass within the hour. With re-entry included, a downpour becomes an early lunch rather than a lost day.
Getting There
On Jalan Kartika Plaza in Tuban, Kuta — directly across from Discovery Mall, about 2.3 km from central Kuta and a few minutes from Ngurah Rai airport.
A Grab or Gojek from most South Bali hotels drops you at the entrance. There’s on-site parking, though it fills at weekends. Also, families coming from Ubud or Canggu usually book a private driver rather than handling Bali traffic while soaked and sunburnt.
Food and What to Pack
No outside food or drink — bags are checked at the entrance, though water is generally permitted. The food inside is better than typical theme park standard, with a main food court covering Indonesian, Western, vegan and gluten-free, quieter garden cafés, and swim-up pool bars.
Swimwear must be free of metal zips, buckles or decorations, which damage the slides. Loose clothing, sunglasses and jewellery aren’t permitted on rides.
Worth bringing: a quick-dry towel (or rent one), water shoes since walkways get hot by midday, a waterproof phone pouch, and reef-safe sunscreen reapplied more often than feels necessary.
Making the Most of the Day
Families who’ve done this a few times agree on the approach: hit the thrill slides first before the late-morning rush, then shift to the lazy river and kids’ zones as queues build.
Meanwhile, split the group by interest rather than moving everyone together — a toddler’s pace and a teenager’s pace rarely align. Regroup for lunch, then use the quiet late-afternoon window for one more run on whatever turned out to be the favourite.
Why It Keeps Winning Awards
Beyond the slides, Waterbom runs a sustainability programme called Karmic Returns, covering composting, wastewater treatment and cutting single-use plastic, with a target of zero-waste status by 2033.
Most visitors never think about it while queuing for Climax, but it’s part of why the park’s reputation has held for three decades.
Ready to Book
A Waterbom day works best when the planning happens before you land. Lock in tickets, check the height chart against your kids’ actual measurements, and pick a weekday morning if the schedule allows.
For the rest of the trip, the wider list of things to do in Bali covers the temples, the beach clubs and the Nusa Penida day trips.
FAQs
How much are Waterbom Bali tickets?
Official market price is IDR 519,000 for adults aged 12 and over and IDR 421,000 for children aged 2 to 11. Under-2s enter free. Furthermore, Indonesian ID and KITAS holders pay a separate discounted rate year-round.
What are Waterbom Bali’s opening hours?
9:00am to 6:00pm daily. Getting through the gate before 10:00am makes a real difference to queue lengths, particularly on weekends and through the June-to-August peak.
Is Waterbom Bali suitable for toddlers?
Yes. Funtastic has no minimum height and is built for young children — shallow water, mini slides and water cannons. Moreover, under-2s enter free, and anyone under 11 must be accompanied by an adult.
What is the minimum height for the thrill slides?
Climax and Smashdown 2.0 need roughly 120 to 122 cm, as does Constrictor. Python is 100 cm. Weight limits vary by slide, from around 136 kg to 240 kg. Staff enforce these strictly.
Is FlowRider included in the ticket?
No. It’s a separate charge, around IDR 150,000 for a 30-minute session, and needs booking. Minimum height is 130 cm for the body board and 140 cm to stand.
Can you bring your own food into Waterbom Bali?
No. Bags are checked at the entrance, though water is generally allowed. The food court covers Indonesian, Western, vegan and also gluten-free options, so most families find something everyone will eat.
Can you leave and come back the same day?
Yes. Same-day re-entry is allowed with a pass-out, which makes a midday hotel nap or an off-site lunch entirely workable without losing your ticket.
When is Waterbom Bali least crowded?
Weekdays, with Tuesdays quietest. Early mornings and the final two hours before closing are calmer than midday. Moreover, the low season runs roughly from February to May and September to November.
How much should I budget for food inside?
Around IDR 300,000 per person covers meals and snacks throughout a full day. Everything is paid via the Splash Band wristband, and unspent credit is refunded when you leave.
Is Waterbom Bali worth it?
For families, consistently yes — it’s rated among Asia’s best water parks and genuinely caters to mixed ages rather than one. It’s not cheap by Bali standards, so a full day rather than a half makes the ticket work harder.
