Booking Burj Khalifa tickets online is the easiest way to lock in a visit to the tallest building on Earth, and it takes about two minutes.
The short version: Get your timed ticket first. Choose a time about 30 to 45 minutes before sunset if you want both daylight and city lights in the same visit. Plan to show up 20 to 30 minutes early, and bring a photo ID. The next part explains what you will receive, the price, and what the lines look like in real life.

Two Rules That Catch People Out
Photo ID is required, not optional. Bring your passport or Emirates ID to present at the At the Top Will Call counter alongside your voucher. This trips up visitors who’ve left documents in the hotel safe.
Late arrival can forfeit your ticket. Timed entry tickets are described as strictly non-refundable and non-transferable, and arriving after your slot may mean losing it outright.
Cancellation terms vary sharply between the operator and resellers — some platforms offer free cancellation 24 hours ahead, others none at all. Read the policy on your specific booking page.
Why Book Before You Land
Every ticket is for a specific time, so you’re reserving a place in the day rather than just buying an entry. Prime slots sell out days ahead, and walk-up rates are higher than advance ones.
Booking ahead also puts a QR code on your phone, which spares you from hunting for a ticket desk inside one of the world’s largest malls. In winter, when Dubai is busiest, a week or two of notice is sensible.
Which Ticket Should You Book?
Three tiers, differing more in feel than in the view itself.

For most visitors, Levels 124 and 125 deliver the moment they came for. SKY is impressive, but the skyline doesn’t change dramatically as you climb — the extra money mostly buys a calmer deck, capped at around 50 people, and a more personal welcome.
Child pricing varies by seller. Some list the child band as ages 3 to 7, others 4 to 12. Under-3s are free across the board. Check the age bands on your booking page rather than assuming.
What You’ll See on 124 and 125
You ride one of the world’s fastest double-deck lifts at roughly 10 metres per second, reaching Level 124 in about a minute. Your ears may pop.
Level 124 is the main deck, with an outdoor terrace where you can look out without glass reflections — the best spot for photographs.
Level 125 sits just above: a wide indoor deck in Arabic mashrabiya patterns, with telescopes, the Falcon’s Eye view, and VR pods that let you “climb” the tower virtually. VR is an add-on.
On a clear day you’ll pick out Downtown, the Gulf, the desert and sometimes the Burj Al Arab in the distance.
You’ll pass a staged photo stop on the way in. Prints are optional and pricey — walk straight by if you’d rather.
Note that outdoor terraces can close during heavy rain, high winds, fog or sandstorms.

Prime hours run roughly 4pm to 7pm daily, and that’s where the price jumps. Non-prime runs from 9am and again from about 8pm until late.
For the full day-to-night transition, book 30 to 45 minutes before actual sunset, not at it. You want to be on the deck as the light changes, not queuing through it.
Weather matters more than people expect. Summer haze softens distant views, fog settles in between November and March, and a sandstorm can hide the skyline entirely. One reviewer noted visibility under 40 km on their visit. If the forecast looks poor and your ticket allows changes, moving the date is worth considering.

Prices shift with season and demand, so check the live figure. If your dates are flexible, comparing two or three days often turns up a cheaper slot.
Getting There and Getting In
The entrance is inside The Dubai Mall, on the lower ground floor — this catches plenty of first-timers off guard, and reviewers note that mapping apps don’t lead you there well.
By metro, take the Red Line to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station and follow the covered walkway, about ten minutes. Then head to the lower ground floor and follow the signs. Driving, the Fashion Avenue car park is closest.
Rules worth knowing:
Children under 3 free; anyone up to 16 must stay with an adult
Large bags, strollers, electronics and sharp items go to the dedicated counter
No outside food or drink
Smart casual — beachwear isn’t permitted
Wheelchair accessible throughout
The Queue, Honestly
Timed entry doesn’t mean zero waiting. Your slot gets you into the system at a set hour, but at peak times security and lift queues run 20 to 45 minutes. Some visitors report up to an hour on the busiest days.
People keep bringing this up, so expect it from the start. You might feel a bit less stress in the morning and in the late evening. Also, Tuesday through Thursday tends to be easier than the weekend. If waiting in line is your biggest concern, SKY has ways to skip at the ticket desk, at security, and by the lift.
Make an Evening of It
Once you are back on land, head over to the Dubai Fountain. You do not have to pay. The shows start every 30 minutes, from 6:00pm until 11:00pm. Each one runs for about five minutes. On Fridays, there are extra shows at 1:00pm and 1:30pm.
To get a decent view, reserve a spot 30 minutes before the start time. That gives you enough time to find where you want to stand.
Going with kids? The Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo is inside the same mall, and Sky Views Observatory pairs well on the same day. The wider list of things to do in Dubai covers the desert safaris and the Palm.
Is It Worth It?
Yes, if you choose your slot well. A hazy midday visit in summer is pleasant but forgettable. A clear morning or a well-timed sunset is the kind of memory people talk about for years.
If crowds bother you, go early or upgrade to SKY. If you only want to see the tower, you can admire it free from the promenade. But to stand inside the view, this is how.

FAQs
How much are Burj Khalifa tickets?
At the Top Levels 124 and 125 runs around AED 173 to 174 for adults in non-prime hours and AED 235 to 250 during prime. Children pay roughly AED 128 to 158. SKY Level 148 costs AED 399 to 554.
What are prime and non-prime hours?
Prime runs roughly 4pm to 7pm daily, covering sunset, and carries the highest prices. Non-prime covers mornings from 9am and evenings from about 8pm, at noticeably lower rates for the same decks.
What time should I book for sunset?
Get there thirty to forty five minutes before sunset. Not right at sunset. Use that time to get past security and to the deck while the daylight is still shifting. Then you will not be stuck in a line when the best light hits.
Where is the Burj Khalifa entrance?
Inside The Dubai Mall on the lower ground floor. Follow the Burj Khalifa signs, or walk from Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall metro station along the covered walkway. Mapping apps often don’t lead you there accurately.
Do I need to bring an ID?
Yes. Bring your passport or Emirates ID to present with your voucher at the At the Top Will Call counter. This is a requirement rather than an occasional request.
Are Burj Khalifa tickets refundable?
It depends on the place you used to book. On the operator side, timed tickets are often listed as final sale. They may not be refunded or moved to another person. If you show up late, you can lose your spot. A few resellers do list a different rule. They may let you cancel for free if you do it at least 24 hours early.
How long does a visit take?
Sixty to ninety minutes for Levels 124 and 125, covering security, the lift, the terrace, exhibits and photos. Peak-hour queues can add another 20 to 45 minutes on top.
What’s the difference between Level 124 and Level 148?
Level 124 is the main deck, sitting at roughly 452 meters. It has an outdoor terrace. Level 148 is the SKY deck at about 555 meters. The top area is limited to around 50 guests. There is a guest ambassador there, plus drinks, and you get to skip the line.
Can I buy tickets for the same day?
Often, but it depends on demand. Prime slots sell out days ahead, so booking at least a day or two in advance gives you a far better choice of time and a lower price.
What if it’s hazy or foggy?
Visibility varies a lot. Summer haze softens distant views, fog is common November to March, and sandstorms can close the outdoor terraces entirely. Morning slots generally offer the clearest air.
