What to expect

A trip to Paris isn’t complete without Versailles. It’s less of a “palace” and more of a small city built for one
purpose: to show off royal power. With a guide, the palace comes alive, you all will hear about Louis XIV (the “Sun King”), court gossip, and why the French Revolution started brewing here. 

The inside is jaw-dropping, gold, artwork, and ceilings that seem higher than churches. The Hall of Mirrors is the star, and it’s not just pretty: treaties that shaped history were signed here. 

After the palace, you can head into the gardens. They are huge, and the fountains, trimmed hedges, little hidden corners make the gardens even more beautiful. On weekends in summer, music plays with the fountains, and it feels like you have time - travelled.  

Know before you go

• Wear comfy shoes, you will easily clock up 10,000 steps.
• The busiest times are mornings. If you can, book late afternoon.
• No flash photos inside, but yes, you can take pictures.
• Food isn’t allowed inside, though cafés are right outside the gates.
• Pets are not allowed; guide dogs are allowed. 
• Lifts are available to access all the floors.
