Potter’s Wax Museum, established in 1949 in St. Augustine by George L. Potter, proudly stands as the oldest wax museum in America. Boasting a collection of around 160 lifelike wax figures, the museum showcases renowned personalities spanning sports, art, music, entertainment, literature, and American history. Visitors can immerse themselves in this unique experience, engaging with and capturing photos alongside these iconic figures. The museum's inception was inspired by Potter's childhood visit to London, where he was captivated by life-size wax figures and aimed to recreate this enchanting encounter in the United States.
From Tiger Woods to Princess Diana, Elvis to Michael Jordan, and Angelina Jolie, the museum features a diverse array of influential individuals from both contemporary and historical realms. Potter, the museum's visionary, enlisted artisans from across Europe to craft these exquisite wax figures. The materials used were carefully chosen, with wax imported from France, real hair sourced from Italian artisans, eyes crafted in Germany, and hands intricately sculpted in Belgium. Prepare to mingle with some of the world's most famous personalities!
Regrettably, there is no audio guide provided.
