This trip takes you out of Bangkok for a day that feels straight out of a travel diary.
The first stop is Maeklong Railway Market. At first, it looks like any other street market, baskets of chilies, fish on ice, the smell of grilled seafood in the air. Then a horn blares and people rush to fold back umbrellas, pull in baskets, and within seconds a train inches through the narrow track, so close you could almost touch it. The best part is how quickly everyone goes back to selling like nothing unusual just happened.
From there you ride a longtail boat into the canals of Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. It’s noisy, colourful, and a little chaotic. Boats knock gently into each other while vendors pass bowls of noodles, fried skewers, or coconut ice cream straight from the boat. You might bargain for a souvenir or just sit back and watch the action around you.
By the time you return to Bangkok, you will probably be carrying a bag of snacks, a few photos you can’t wait to post, and the memory of a very different kind of day trip.
