The entire production unfolds beneath a 30-meter highway overpass, mirroring the essence of New York's gritty urban culture and gang dynamics. This expansive stage, 2.5 times larger than any other indoor stage in Australia, was meticulously crafted by a team of 105 workers over 25 days to transport you to the heart of New York City.
Witness the reimagined West Side Story, a classic 1950s love story, transformed for the grand Sydney Harbor Stage. The live orchestra positioned behind the scenes, paired with electrifying dance performances, bring to life audience favorites like ‘Maria’, ‘I feel pretty’, ‘America’, and ‘Somewhere’, filling the air with poignant melodies. A kaleidoscope of music and visuals captures the essence of gang rivalries, transforming the musical into a multisensory extravaganza.
