Royal Attractions
On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the Palace of Holyroodhouse is typically closed. However, from May 25 to September 8, 2025, it remains open daily.
Between June 26 and July 4, 2025, Holyrood Palace will be closed. Customers with a Royal Edinburgh Ticket will receive entry to The King's Gallery and a Palace Guidebook as an alternative.
Entry to Edinburgh Castle is assured upon voucher validation, with entry slots offered on-site. Tickets are reserved for Royal Edinburgh Ticket holders, even if the Castle's website shows sold-out status.
The Royal Edinburgh Ticket allows visits to Edinburgh Castle and Royal Yacht Britannia within 48 hours. If a visit to Palace of Holyroodhouse is needed beyond this timeframe, the ticket remains valid.
The 48-hour validity period begins upon voucher validation. Visitors receive a Royal Edinburgh Ticket, a tear-off section for Britannia and the Palace, and a tour ticket for easy access. Castle entry is secured at this point.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult or senior citizen during their tour.
