Kindly note that scooters, bicycles, helmets, non-folding strollers, and large luggage are prohibited from entry into the Château Comtal and on the ramparts.
For the comfort of all visitors, please be aware that animals are not allowed within the monument premises.
Accessibility Notes
Parts of the monument are accessible to individuals with limited mobility, specifically the Barbican and main courtyard areas.
However, please be informed that certain sections like the ramparts are not easily accessible.
Prepare for some physical activity as there are multiple stairs to climb, notably with the Bishop's tower boasting over 230 steps.
Important Details to Keep in Mind
The monument operates daily from 10 am to 6:15 pm, with the final entry permitted at 5:45 pm. Please note that the monument is closed on January 1, May 1, and December 25. Additionally, the ramparts are off-limits on July 14 due to fireworks displays.
Entrance is free for individuals under 18 and EU citizens under 26 holding valid identification. It's necessary to pre-book a timeslot on the Carcassone website for your visit.
Take advantage of free entry on the first Sunday of January, February, March, November, and December, as well as during European Heritage Days held on the 3rd weekend of September.
Be mindful that certain sections may be closed temporarily due to adverse weather conditions. Prior to your visit, ensure to check for any operational updates.
